Some students have special needs due to their different developmental characteristics from their peers and may need some arrangements and interventions in school and out-of-school environments. Gifted students are also students with special needs as children who develop differently. This course aims to provide guidance and psychological counselor candidates with the necessary information on understanding concepts such as talent and intelligence, recognizing the characteristics of gifted students, recognizing these students in the classroom environment, supporting the development of intelligence and talent, and providing services appropriate to the special guidance and psychological counseling needs that special needs bring.
Definition, classification and distinguishing characteristics of the gifted individual; processes and criteria for determining giftedness; appropriate teaching strategies for gifted children, differentiated teaching, enrichment, acceleration, consultancy services, family and school cooperation, educational practices for gifted children in Turkey (BİLSEM etc.)
