Objectives of the Course

The primary aim of this course is to introduce students to the biological, psychological, and social processes of adolescence and to help them understand the developmental significance of this period from a holistic perspective.

Course Content

This course examines adolescence from a biopsychosocial perspective by focusing on the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and identity-related changes that characterize this developmental period. Students will critically examine contemporary theories and empirical research concerning adolescent development, developmental challenges, risk and protective factors, and evidence-based approaches for promoting healthy adolescent adjustment.
