The overall aim of this course is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies in preventive counseling and guidance that are essential for becoming competent psychological counselors.
This course introduces the philosophy, principles, and scope of preventive counseling and guidance. It covers the fundamental concepts, theories, and approaches underlying preventive counseling practices. The course examines risk and protective factors affecting the psychological well-being of children and adolescents and explores prevention strategies across developmental stages and diverse populations. Students are introduced to school-, family-, and community-based preventive counseling and guidance programs, with an emphasis on designing and implementing evidence-based preventive interventions through interdisciplinary collaboration.
