Objectives of the Course

The objective of the “Social Structure of Türkiye” is to explore concepts pertinent to social structure, acquire knowledge regarding Türkiye’s economic, social, ethnic, demographic, political, and cultural frameworks, and analyze social transformations and issues.

Course Content

The course “Social Structure of Türkiye” analyzes structural developments in Türkiye from political, economic, and social viewpoints. The course primarily focuses on concepts pertaining to social structure, Türkiye’s socio-cultural and ethnic composition, demographic distribution, and economic transformation, as well as the historical changes and phases of transition in social structure, religion, economy, politics, health, and migration.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to analyze society within the framework of concepts related to social structure, socio-cultural change, development, integration and dissolution processes
2.To be able to examine society through the lens of socio-cultural processes and the human development index in the context of interdependence
3.To be able to offer information on a variety of subjects, including economic transformation, urbanization, demographic transformation, family, and information society from the Ottoman and Republic periods to the present
4.To be able to evaluate the social structure and social change in Türkiye, and interpret the facts and events observed in Turkish society in accordance with sociological theories
5.To be able to concentrate on the issues within Türkiye’s social structure and endeavors to identify and resolve them
