Objectives of the Course

This course aims to support students' adaptation to university life, enable them to effectively benefit from academic, social, and cultural opportunities, and help them develop essential academic and personal skills needed throughout their education. It also aims to raise awareness in areas such as academic ethics, communication skills, career planning, and social responsibility.

Course Content

The concept of university and university identity; ADU’s management structure and student services; education and student regulations; academic ethics and research; communication and oratory skills; foreign language learning; internships and career planning; course selection in accordance with the career plan, double major and minor opportunities; national and international student exchange programs; maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships and psychological well-being; human rights and gender equality; social responsibility and sustainability; lifelong learning approach.

Learning Outcomes
1.Gains knowledge about the concept of university, ADU campus, administration, services, and student facilities.
2.Recognizes national and institutional regulations and student rights and responsibilities.
3.Acquires information about student clubs and activities supporting social, sportive, and cultural life.
4.Distinguishes between academic and non-academic knowledge within the framework of academic ethics and uses appropriate resources in research processes.
5.Gains skills in establishing healthy interpersonal relationships and maintaining psychological well-being, and knows methods to seek support when necessary.
6.Develops communication skills in written and oral forms, public speaking, use of body language, and understanding of aesthetics and etiquette.
7.Develops awareness of global issues such as environment, human rights, development, and sustainability, and gains social responsibility consciousness.
8.Acquires essential knowledge and skills for academic and professional life, engages in career planning, and supports personal development.
9.Develops a sense of corporate and individual identity and gains the ability to represent ADU’s mission and values.
