Objectives of the Course

This course aims to enable students to comprehend the fundamental concepts, sources, and subjects of international law; to understand the processes through which international legal rules are created; and to analyze the scope of rights and responsibilities of states under international law. It also seeks to develop students' abilities to critically assess theoretical knowledge in relation to contemporary developments.

Course Content

The nature and fundamental characteristics of international law; differences from national legal systems; sources of international law (treaties, custom, subsidiary means); unilateral acts, recognition, and succession; subjects of international law (states, international organizations, and other entities); compliance with international law; dispute settlement mechanisms; and the concept of international responsibility of internatiolaw law persons.
