Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is introducing the international system and the world politics during the Cold War.

Course Content

Cold War has a specific character of relations and policies. In this course student will focus on the basic events and the logic of Cold War between 1945-1990. In this manner the nature of bi-polar system will be analysed theoretically. Additionally some basic concepts will be introduced. Such as balance of power, armed race, balance of terror, detoriation, security dilemma, detant etc. Berlin Blokcade, Cuban Crises, Ostpolitic, Star Wars, Salt and START I-II-III, U2, Korean and Vietnamese Wars will be examined.

3.Students will be able to understand why and how the Cold War ended.
