Objectives of the Course

This course aims to enable students to have knowledge on the main principles of Turkish foreign policy and the main factors that affect foreign policy. It also aims to evaluate Turkish foreign policy within the context of international relations and foreign policiy analysis. In addition, another aim of the course is to analyze the causes and consequences of the developments that can be considered important in terms of Turkish Foreign Policy in the last 200 years.

Course Content

Basic principles of Turkish foreign policy, basic factors affecting Turkish foreign policy, Turkish foreign policy in the period of Ottoman last period Turkish War of Salvation and the early Republican period.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to comprehend the main principles of Turkish foreign policy, and the main factors that affect foreign policy.
2.To be able to evaluate Turkish foreign policy theoretically.
3.To be able to comprehend the implementation of Turkish foreign policy in the period of Ottaman late period, Turkish War of Independence and early Republic period.
4.To be able to evaluate the principal events occured in the 1774-1923 period historically and theoretically.
5.To be able to evaluate Turkish Foreign Policy within the scope of foreign policy analysis.
