Additionally, the course examines the formation and transformation of geopolitical perceptions in Turkey within a historical and theoretical framework. The impact of geopolitics on international relations at global and regional levels is also explored.

Course Content

This course focuses on the historical evolution and theoretical approaches of geopolitics. Within the framework of the three phases of geopolitical thinking, it analyzes classical theories developed by thinkers such as Mackinder and Mahan, expansionist geopolitical approaches with a focus on Germany, and Cold War strategies of the United States, the Soviet Union, and France. The course also addresses post-Cold War developments, Eurasian geopolitics, and contemporary approaches such as critical and feminist geopolitics. In the final part, the formation and transformation of geopolitical thinking in Turkey are discussed within a historical and theoretical context.
