Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide the students with the knowledge of the methods of diplomacy, the diplomacy of the diplomacy methods, the diplomacy methods of the Ottoman Empire and the relations of the Ottoman Empire with the other states and the international agreements and the results of the international agreements.

Course Content

Development of diplomacy in the Ottoman Empire, establishment of the state and its relations with other countries; the structure of the foreign policy and diplomacy followed by the period of establishment and ascension, with the general outlines in the period of stagnation, the related institutions, organizations and executives; post-classical foreign relations (Ottoman-Russian, Ottoman-British, Ottoman-French, Ottoman-German, Ottoman-American relations); The Ottoman Empire and the First World War in the process leading to the First World War.

Learning Outcomes
1.Comprehends the foreign relations of the Ottoman Empire since its establishment.
2.Comprehends tthe difference between political history and diplomatic history.
3.Be informed about Ottoman diplomacy tradition and can compare it with current diplomacy practices.
4.Have knowledge about important developments and events in Ottoman Diplomacy History.
5.Have knowledge about the executives, institutions and institutions related to the foreign policy and diplomacy of the Ottoman Empire.
