The aim of this course is to explain the stages of US foreign policy, especially from the Cold War era, taking into account the actors and factors that are effective in policy making. In this context, US political structure and decision-making mechanisms will be analyzed through internal political-foreign policy linkages. Then US foreign policy orientations will be discussed chronologically in the context of leading events.
The historical development of American foreign policy, the dynamics of political institutions and federal government processes, the role of interest groups, views of political parties and public opinion, the emergence of the US as a leading world power in the 20th century, changing dynamics following the 11 September events, the US presidents and their foreign policy orientations, regional policies, the historical development of political and strategic relations between Turkey and the United States; the variables experienced in the dynamics of relations; the future of the bilateral relations after the "Cold War".
