It addresses Turkey’s different foreign policy approaches across various periods, its political, economic, and security relations with Middle Eastern countries, and its transboundary water policies, aiming to assess Turkey’s position and policy choices within the framework of shifting international and regional dynamics.

Course Content

This course examines Turkey’s foreign policy towards the Middle East across different historical periods, beginning with the pre-World War II era, through the Cold War, post-1980 developments, and into the 2000s. It explores Turkey’s political, economic, and security relations with Middle Eastern states, as well as current foreign policy trends. Topics such as transboundary water issues and the impact of climate change on Turkey’s Middle East policy are also analyzed within the framework of contemporary regional dynamics.
