Objectives of the Course

This course aims to explore the interplay between economic activity and environmental quality, emphasizing how economic theory and practice can be applied to develop sustainable solutions for environmental challenges. In this regard, students will be equipped with a comprehensive understanding of the economic principles and tools essential for analyzing and addressing environmental issues. Besides, they will learn to critically evaluate environmental policies, understand the economic implications of environmental degradation, and propose economically viable strategies for sustainable development.

Course Content

This course delves into the dynamic relationship between economic systems and the environment. Throughout the course, we will explore how economic activities impact natural resources and ecosystems, and how economic tools can be utilized to address environmental problems. Some of the main topics to be covered in the course include: economic theory and environmental issues, market failures and externalities, cost-benefit analysis, and environmental policy instruments.
