To examine the relationship between Social Policy and Gender in national and international comparative studies based on theoretical, historical and practical examples. It aims to examine the concept of gender and the role of social policies in achieving gender equality. It aims to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of the history, theoretical foundations and practical applications of gender equality policies.
It provides an in-depth examination of the concept of gender and the role of social policies in achieving gender equality. The course explores how gender differs from biological sex and its effects on social roles, behaviors and expectations. Feminist theories and gender studies provide students with a theoretical foundation. Within the scope of the course, gender equality and legal regulations are examined. Gender equality policies and legislation in Turkey and in the international arena are discussed. How legal regulations are shaped and implemented in the context of women's rights and human rights are discussed. The historical development of social policies and their relationship with gender are also an important part of the course. The concept of welfare state, social assistance and social security systems are evaluated from a gender perspective. The obstacles faced by women in working life, gender equality policies in the workplace and wage inequality are examined in depth. Gender equality in education, education policies and practices are emphasized. The difficulties faced by women in education and the strategies developed to overcome these difficulties are discussed. In the field of health, gender differences in women's health, reproductive rights and access to health services are discussed. The division of labor within the family, family politics and gender equality are also important topics of the course. Domestic violence and protection mechanisms to prevent this violence are discussed. Gender representations in the media, media policies and the effects of new media tools on gender are analyzed. Social movements and gender are examined within the framework of women's movements, feminist organizations and LGBTQ+ rights. In the 21st century, gender policies and innovative solutions for gender equality in a global perspective are discussed.
