Objectives of the Course

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge regarding the past and current situation of Turkish economic system as a a developing economy within the global economic system, starting from late Ottoman period to modern Turkey and to make understand and interpret the economic events in Turkey and to produce the solution for the economic problems of Turkey.

Course Content

The course will cover macroeconomic as well as sectoral topics of Turkish economics and economic crises.

1.To be able to describe the major events, actors, policies and turning points in economic history of modern Turkey
2.To be able to evaluate and recognize different macroeconomic indicators and international economic policy approaches in the context of Turkish economic history
3.To be able to evaluate socio-economic dynamics and sectors within Turkish economy, and analyze regional, sectoral and economy comparatively
4.To be able to analyze reasons and results of crises in Turkish economy
5.To have the ability to analyze the potential opportunities and problems of Turkish economy
6.To be able to identify the place of Turkish economy in global economic system as a newly developing country
