Objectives of the Course

To state what Political Thought is and how the history of political thought emerged and what states it has passed through from the ancient times until today and its affects in the world and in Turkey.

Course Content

This course particularly draws a framework for European History of late antiquity and middle ages along with later developments namely Reformation and Renaissance, for explaining the nature and fundamentals of Turkish political thought and its history, with reference to 20th century political ideas and developments related to the new world order.

Learning Outcomes
1.Getting familiar with the backgound and conceptual instruments required in order to understand the history of political thought through learning it from the ancient times until today and getting a perspective on the course.
2.Learning the development of the history of political thought through the basic concepts and sources.
3.Making an analysis of the history of political thought with a contemporary point of view; examining the ancient and middle age European history with the Reform and Renaissance movements and the development of Turkish history of political thought, and the political thoughts of the 20th century and the development of the new world order.
4.The accumulation of concepts and frameworks of Turkish political thought with political treatises, reform pamphlets and political movements of modernisation is explained.
5.The concept of politics is explained with reference to institutions and significant figures.
