Objectives of the Course

The course aims at introducing the Turkey-EU relations in a historical background.

Course Content

Turkey’s relationship with Europe is long rooted whether looked at in terms of trade, military power, culture or diplomacy. These have not been easy relationship, but have been critical in shaping the evolution of Turkey and also Europe. In this course, the students will study the different stages of this relationship and will try to project the future of European Integration in the global context and the relations between Turkey and the EU. Each class will began with a lecture and end up with a brainstorming exercise.

1.To be able to investigate the impact of economic and political issues over Turkey EU relations
2.Student can analyze the effect of Turkey EU relations over Turkish political life and Turkish foreign policy.
3.To be able to comprehend the historical process of Turkey-EU relations.
4. To be able to identify problematic areas that determine the course of relations and generate alternatives for possible solutions.
5. To be able to comprehend Turkey’s improvement in democratization and economic development.
