Objectives of the Course

This course aims to introduce main principles of constitutional law, general characteristics of Turkish Constitutional Law and basic principles of political structure of the State organization.

Course Content

The subjects which will be contextualized in this course are basic principles of the Republic of Turkey, separation of powers and its branches in Turkey; Governmental structure (powers of the executive and legislative branches) and finally judicial power, in the light of the basic legal and constitutional fundamentals such as Constitution and decisions of the Turkish Constitutional Court.

1.to be able to understand of main principles of constitutional law in general and Turkish Constitutional Law in particular.
2.to be able to analyze Turkish Constitution in order to discuss core legal issues and to discuss intersection of everyday lives of people with constitutional regulations and limitations
3.to be able to analyse and evaluate the relationship between citizen and state
4.to comprehend the constitutional limitations on fundemantal rights and limitations of constitutions on human rights
5.To be able to understand contemporary legal developments from a constitutional law perspective.
