Objectives of the Course

The economic importance of cereals in a cool climate, adaptation, morphology, physiological processes, diseases and pests, and to get to know the consumption areas

Course Content

Theoretical: on the general part, the economical importance of cereals in the world and Turkey,adaptation, the seed, growing period, physiological events, germination, tillering, condition of shoot,leave, flower, nutrients, maturity, on the special part, the economical importance, growing areas, classifications, growing techniques, the important varieties grown in Turkey,pests and diseases and consumption areas of wheat,barley,oat, rye, triticale plants

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to comprehend the importance of the cerals on the agricultural production and To be able to compare the criteria distinction of the cereals of cold climate
2.To be able to give information to the producers about proposing the types of cereals, providing the material, production process and about the problems and their solution which can be faced
3.To be able to produce new projects on some types of warm and cold climate cereals in terms of human and animal nutrition, grow and produce raw material for industry
4.Learning about the morphological characteristics of cereals, and being able to comprehend and present the acquired information.
5.To be able to improve projects about growing the cereals of cold climate on different ecological conditions with regard to adaptation characteristics
