Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is make the student learn the importance of the conservation of genetic material, preliminary the ones with Anatolian origin, to teach the important techniques and organizations in recognition and conservation of biological diversity and to give the basic information on the threads of genetic resources

Course Content

The importance of gene source in terms of plant breeding, to give basic information about gen sources of Turkey, the collection and conservation of plant materials. Acknowledgment of students for not only technical but also theoretical basic.

Week 1 - Theoretical
The importance of plant genetic resources, plant breeding, plant genes and spreading centers, erosion of genetic resources
Week 2 - Theoretical
Principles of plant genetic resources, studies, coordination, training, finding-collection
Week 3 - Theoretical
Field studies, collecting the importance and purpose of collection of plant priorities, collecting regional priorities
Week 4 - Theoretical
The factors affecting optimum plant collection and optimum plant collecting
Week 5 - Theoretical
The importance of plant collection stops, exemplary number of stops, the factors that determine the number of stops in the region, the distribution of bus stops, bus stops will be the number of plants
Week 6 - Theoretical
Plant gathering techniques, collection of herbarium specimens, samples collection and production, keeping records of collection.

Gene bank to be carried out upon arrival, vitality tests
