Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to learn the basic concepts of environmental management and environmental legislation, evaluate national and international environmental protection conventions, interpret environmental and climate policies in Türkiye, and relate environmental management practices to the discipline of landscape architecture.

Course Content

This course covers the fundamental concepts of environmental management and environmental legislation, human-nature relationships, and environmental problems. National and international environmental protection conventions, biodiversity, wetland conservation, protection of cultural and natural heritage, climate change, and sustainability policies are examined within the scope of the course. In addition, environmental management and environmental policies in Türkiye, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process, and the role of environmental organizations and civil society are evaluated in relation to the discipline of landscape architecture. Midterm evaluation consists of class participation/performance, assignment work, and a midterm exam, accounting for a total of 40%. The end-of-term evaluation is conducted through the final exam (60%). Students repeating the course are required to complete all assignments, class participation/performance activities, and examinations again within the scope of the current assessment and evaluation structure of the course.
