In this course, it is aimed to help students understand the place and importance of model making in landscape architecture, as well as the relationships between scale, topography, landform arrangement and physical representation. The course also aims to enable students to become familiar with the tools, equipment and materials used in model making; to transform landscape elements, landforms and design components into models at an appropriate scale; to represent living and non-living landscape materials; and to document the completed model through visual presentation techniques.
The place and importance of models in physical design; basic concepts related to model making; types of models; relationships between scale, measurement and elevation; model-making tools, equipment and materials; representation of topographic structure and landform through models; site grading and the creation of structural ground surfaces; representation of living and non-living landscape materials; planting, detailing and model photography techniques. The assessment of the course consists of two components: in-semester assessment and end-of-semester assessment. In-semester assessment is based on attendance/performance, assignment and workshop studies, and accounts for 40% of the total grade. Within this scope, attendance/performance accounts for 5%, assignment for 15% and workshop studies for 20% of the total grade. End-of-semester assessment is based on the final project submission and accounts for 60% of the total grade. Students repeating the course are responsible for completing all assignment, workshop study, project submission and attendance/performance requirements in accordance with the current assessment structure of the course.
