The aim of this course is to introduce the physical, perceptual, psychological, and social relationships between humans and space, to evaluate the effects of space on user experience, and to interpret human-centered spatial approaches within the context of landscape architecture.
This course covers the fundamental concepts of human-space relationships, spatial perception, environmental perception and sensory experience, anthropometric and cognitive dimensions, ergonomics and human-centered design approaches, urban spatial experience, walkability, biophilic design, spatial memory, collective memory, perception of historical environments, and sustainable spatial approaches. Throughout the course, the effects of space on human psychology, behavior, and daily life are evaluated through contemporary examples. Midterm evaluation consists of class participation/performance, assignment work, and a midterm exam, accounting for a total of 40%. The end-of-term evaluation is conducted through the final exam (60%). Students repeating the course are required to complete all assignments, class participation/performance activities, and examinations again within the scope of the current assessment and evaluation structure of the course.
