Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to teach the students the importance and the effects of environment within the scope of the developments in tourism.

Course Content

Information will be given about the effects of tourism activities on natural environment, echologic risk analysis, the importance of environment on sustainable tourism

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week 1 - Theoretical
Meeting Students, Information will be given about the lesson and how to be taught.
Week 2 - Theoretical
Information will be given about the phenomenon and development of tourism in the historical process and the positive and negative socio-cultural cunsequences that may arise between tourists and the local community
Week 3 - Theoretical
Information will be given about the effects of international tourism on the economic environment, tourism-political environment, tourism-technological environment, and tourism-physical environment relations
Week 4 - Theoretical
By giving information about the basic princples of ecology, the negative effects that arise from the environmental problems and the main reasons for environmental problems in Turkey will be discussed
Week 5 - Theoretical
Information will be given about environmental problems such as water pollution, air pollution, soil pollution, coastal pollution and waste problems in tourism industry
Week 6 - Theoretical
Information will be given about environmental problems such as noise pollution, visual pollution, light pollution, environmental education, the aims of environmental education, the principles of environmental education and the degree to which people internalize environmental awareness
Week 7 - Theoretical
Information will be given about social responsibility projects, the concept of ecotourism and the factors that are effective in making ecotourism popular, the basic elements of ecotourism and the main determinants of ecotourism
Week 8 - Theoretical
Information will be given about the main features of ecotourism, the aims of ecotourism, the basic principles of ecotourism, and plateau tourism, mountain tourism and cave tourism which are among the ecotourism types will be discussed
Week 9 - Theoretical
Information will be given about hunting tourism, botanical tourism and bird watching which are among the ecotourism types
Week 10 - Theoretical
Information will be given about rural tourism, scuba diving, wildlife tourism and health tourism which are among the ecotourism types
Week 11 - Theoretical
The concept of sustainability in tourism will be discussed by giving information about golf tourism, congress tourism, yacht tourism which are among the ecotourism types
Week 12 - Theoretical
Information will be given about the basic principles of sustainability, sustainable development, dimensions of sustainable development, sustainable tourism and its basic principles
Week 13 - Theoretical
Information will be given about eco-labeling (Blue Flag, Green Star, White Star, Green Globe 21, Greening Hotels) practices within the scope of sustainable tourism
Week 14 - Theoretical
Information will be given about energy management, waste management, water management and environmental legislation in Türkiye
