Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to introduce students to plant cell and tissue culture techniques and to provide information on how to develop new genotypes resistant to diseases and pests in plants using these techniques.

Course Content

History of plant biotechnology, cell and tissue culture methods. The importance of tissue culture in plant breeding. Plant gene transfer and transfer pathways. The importance and use of biotechnology in agriculture. Biosecurity and risk assessment.

Cell differentiation, differentiation ability, and unipolar and bipolar organization. / Establishment of explant sterilization series.

Cell suspension and secondary metabolite production. /Preparation of culture media.

In vitro haploid plant production. / İnitation of callus cultures.
