Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles of reproductive biology in farm animals, including the anatomy and physiology of male and female reproductive systems, neuroendocrine regulation, reproductive hormones, and species-specific reproductive characteristics. The course also aims to develop the ability to evaluate the biological processes affecting reproductive performance, as well as reproductive disorders and diseases, using scientific principles.

Course Content

Fundamental concepts of reproductive biology; anatomy of the reproductive organs in female and male mammals and poultry; the neuroendocrine system and hormonal regulation of reproduction; puberty and sexual maturity; reproductive physiology of female and male animals; species-specific reproductive characteristics of cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, poultry, and bees; fertilization, pregnancy, and factors affecting reproductive performance; major reproductive disorders and diseases in farm animals and their importance in animal production. The course integrates theoretical knowledge with practical applications to enhance students' understanding of reproductive biology in farm animals.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Explains the fundamental principles of reproductive biology and describes the anatomical structures and functions of reproductive organs in female and male mammals as well as poultry.
2.Interprets reproductive processes at the physiological level by explaining the regulatory mechanisms of the neuro-endocrine system and reproductive hormones.
3.Analyzes reproductive physiology and sexual maturity (puberty) in female and male mammals and evaluates factors affecting reproductive performance.
4.Compares reproductive characteristics among different farm animal species (cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, poultry, and bees), identifying similarities and differences.
5.Identifies reproductive defects and diseases and evaluates their impacts on animal production, productivity, and herd management.
