Objectives of the Course

The goal of this course is to analyze the nature and basic institutions of politics, political processes and to apply some basic concepts such as state, power, authority, legitimacy, class, elections, voting behavior into concrete political institutions and processes.

Course Content

Political science and positivism, definition of political science, the relations among political science and other social sciences, power, legitimacy, sovereignty, state, political participation, types of participation and political behavior, political parties, bureaucracy, pressure groups-public opinion, elections and techniques of elections.

1.To be able to develop their academic skills in analizing political events.
2.To be able to comprehend issues which may have traditionally expressed interest in political science.
3.To be able to analyze which contemporary issues are in the scope of political science. Evaluate the factors that impact on political life.
4.To be able to evaluate the changes in accordance with the basic principles of the science of politics today.
5.To be able to critically evaluate the nature and the structure of power in the state.
6.To be able to analyze the mutual relations of the actors that play a role in political life.
