Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to examine the political theories, concepts, and thinkers of the Renaissance and the subsequent modern period; and to develop the ability to analyze the historical transformation of fundamental concepts such as state, sovereignty, legitimacy, individual, and society.

Course Content

This course examines the political issues and approaches addressed by political thinkers who have shaped political thought in the West from the Renaissance to the present day.

Learning Outcomes
1.In Political Science classes, students learn the place and function of concepts and themes, which are explained conceptually, within the history of thought.
2.To be able to comprehend the changes in the history of thought of the basic issues of political philosophy such as justice and power.
3.They learn the concepts and themes that form the building blocks of the modern state.
4.Students learn about the intellectual origins of modern political ideologies such as liberalism, socialism, and conservatism.
5.They learn about the historical transformation of political ideas.
