Objectives of the Course

The aim of the course is to teach the basic concepts of Constitutional Law. It is very hard to conceive the public law and administration by the students without a thorough conceptualisation of the Constitutional Law. Therefore, an additional aim of the course is to lay the grounds of what is public administration and law

Course Content

The Structures of States, Separation of Powers, The Rule of Law, Political Parties and Elections Systems, The Principles of Constitutional Democracy, Fundamental Rights and Freedoms

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to associate the relationship between the Constitution and other constitutional equivalents on the basic characteristics of the regime.
2.One can analyze the differences between state systems and government systems, as well as the types and characteristics of these systems, through the history of the Turkish Constitution.
3.Understands the history of constitutional law in Turkey within the framework of its chronological development and can analyze its characteristics and trajectory from both historical and contemporary perspectives in a comparative manner.
4.He can explain the characteristics of the 1982 Constitution, the fundamental attributes of the state as defined by the Constitution, and the stages of its evolution using a comparative approach.
5.By classifying fundamental rights and freedoms, one can explain the limits on the restriction of these rights and freedoms, while also highlighting the distinction between ordinary and extraordinary periods.
6.It can analyze the historical development of the legislature, its current characteristics, and detailed information regarding the legislative body’s election processes.
7.You can learn about the election processes for members of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, their rights and benefits, and the Assembly’s operating procedures.
