Visual Communication Design Department bases its foundations on art-design and technology concepts. The main goal of the department is to ensure that students have the best possible use of all the equipment they need to use in creating and managing effective audiovisual language. Our students learn how to study visual and auditory communication-design environments from an interdisciplinary point of view. In this way, they can realize designs that are compatible with today's industrial production forms and information technology standards. Thanks to the education in our department, the necessary environment and knowledge are provided for students to produce creative and innovative design solutions.
History
The Faculty of Communication at Aydın Adnan Menderes University was established by a Council of Ministers decree published in the Official Gazette dated April …The Faculty of Communication at Aydın Adnan Menderes University was established by a Council of Ministers decree published in the Official Gazette dated April 15, 2011, numbered 27906. It commenced its academic activities with a contemporary and interdisciplinary approach aimed at providing quality education in the field of communication. In line with the decision of the Higher Education Council's Executive Board dated December 21, 2011, the establishment of the departments of Radio, Television and Cinema, Public Relations and Advertising, Journalism, and Visual Communication Design within the faculty was approved. Within this framework, the departments began accepting students in the following academic years respectively: Radio, Television and Cinema in 2013–2014; Public Relations and Advertising in 2015–2016; Journalism in 2017–2018; and Visual Communication Design in 2020–2021. The Department of Visual Communication Design completed the necessary infrastructure and academic preparation work, and admitted its first undergraduate students in the 2020–2021 academic year with a quota of 60 students. The department launched its activities with the mission of training creative, innovative, and interdisciplinary visual communication professionals, grounded in the concepts of art, design, and technology, and graduated its first students in 2024. The program continues its educational activities with an experienced and dynamic academic staff consisting of 2 professors, 1 associate professor, 1 assistant professor, and 1 research assistant holding a doctoral degree.

Vision
Our students learn how to study visual and auditory communication-design environments from an interdisciplinary point of view. In this way, they can realize designs that are compatible with today's industrial production forms and information technology standards.
Purpose
It is aimed that students graduating from the Department of Visual Communication Design become internationally competent experts who are inclined toward interdisciplinary work and capable of producing visual and audio-visual design solutions across all branches of the communication and media field. Program Educational Objectives PEO1. Serves as a creative director, design specialist, or brand consultant in visual identity, corporate communication, and public relations processes within public institutions, municipalities, and large-scale corporate structures, thereby contributing to the effective delivery of social awareness projects and institutional messages. PEO2. Works as an art director, UX/UI designer, motion graphics artist, or visual storyteller in advertising agencies, design studios, digital publishing organizations, and game companies, contributing to the development of user-centered, aesthetically refined digital products that strengthen brand experience. PEO3. Establishes their own design studio or takes part in technology start-ups by adopting the design thinking methodology, bringing original, high-value-added projects to the business world through user experience, digital interface design, and innovative visual media tools. PEO4. Pursues graduate studies to deepen their knowledge in visual culture, media aesthetics, and design theories, contributing to scientific/artistic knowledge production at higher education institutions or media research centers through academic research and applied design projects. PEO5. Develops awareness of sustainability, the preservation of cultural heritage, universal design principles, and ethical publishing by focusing on the transformative power of design on society; contributes to society by using visual language for social benefit, inclusiveness, and awareness-raising within non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or social responsibility projects.
Physical Infrastructure
Within the Faculty of Communications, there is one 40-person iMac Digital Media Workshops, one 20-person PC Workshops, a television studio with 1 live broadcasting company, a photo studio, a digital printing workshop, one Advanced Media Research Lab with biometric data collection tools as eye-tracker and GSR, mini-movie theater, E-sport workshop, Amt-Lab workshop, various classrooms, and equipment.
