Objectives of the Course

Since the beginning of history, mankind searched ways to organise information. Within this period, various products created by people with different titles, became part of the history of graphic design. Today, it is important for a graphic designer to be visually literate in order not to 're-explore'and unique designs

Course Content

This course begins with the history of type-from development of alphabets to type styles. Following topics are; illuminated manuscripts, Gutenberg&the movable type, typeface classifications (14th-19th c.), Industrial Design and its effects on 'graphic' design, Arts&Crafts, Art Nouveau, Modernism and 20th c. art movements, World War Era graphic design, Swiss Style and Mid-Century design.
