Objectives of the Course

This course aims to acquire knowledge of the terminology and general scope of communication, language, culture, philosophy, philosophy of communication, types of communication, mass communication and mass media, to examine the theoretical approaches in the field of communication in the context of their relations with philosophical texts, and thus to raise awareness of theories and values.

Communication, language, culture, philosophy, communication philosophy, types of communication, mass communication, and terminology knowledge of mass media. The relationship of theoretical approaches in the field of communication with philosophical texts.

Learning Outcomes
1.Defines and reflects on the basic concepts and perspectives in communication philosophy.
2.Explain Marxist media theories.
3.Can link concepts such as popular culture, advertisements and ideology, capitalism and hegemony with the ideologies of thinkers such as Karl Marx, Althusser, Gramsci and Hall with visual communication design.
4.Interprets the theoretical approaches in the field of communication in the context of their relationship with philosophical texts.
5.Gains awareness of approaches, theories and values that emerge in terms of human, society and sociology in the context of discussions on communication technologies.
