Objectives of the Course

The aim of the course is to define the relationship between mythology and art. The mythological symbols which are essential for art branches such as cinema, literature and painting are aimed to be solved by ikonography method.

Course Content

The course includes examining the relationship between mythology and art and describing the iconographic analysis of mythology themed works with examples.

Learning Outcomes
1.Learn about the terminology of mythology and iconography.
2.Comprehend the cultural and ideological functions of mythology.
3.Have knowledge about the Greek and Roman mythologies and iconography which form the basis of Western art.
4.Make iconographic analysis of mythology themed works.
5.Have knowledge about East, Scandinavian and Egyptian mythologies and identify the differences according to the cultural structure.
