Objectives of the Course

Metaverse Technologies explores the emerging field of metaverse and its underlying technologies. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the metaverse, extended reality (XR) and their applications. Students will learn about spatial design for the metaverse, the use of artificial intelligence in XR experiences, different modalities of XR, creativity and participation in the metaverse, social aspects of XR, and future trends and impacts of metaverse technologies.

Course Content

Metaverse technologies are defined as an interconnected virtual space where users interact with digital content and interact with each other. Extended reality (XR) modalities, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR), and their applications in spatial design, storytelling and immersive experiences. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in XR enables object recognition, content creation and personalized user experiences, while addressing ethical considerations and future trends in the metaverse.
