Welcome to the 'Public Relations and Advertising' department within the Faculty of Communication at Aydın Adnan Menderes University. In addition to the scientific contributions it offers to the field with its rich academic staff, our department aims to train students who are competent and equipped to meet the needs of the public relations and advertising sectors. Our students specialize with theoretical and practical courses they can choose in line with their interests and gain experience in line with their career goals. In today's 'Communication Age', where there is a need for public relations and advertising experts with high communication skills, who use communication technologies effectively, who can analyze the period we are in well and who can create communication strategies in this direction, while gaining solid equipment with current studies and applications such as corporate communication, media relations, marketing communication, writing public relations texts, internal communication, digital communication, social responsibility, sponsorship management, crisis management, in the field of advertising, thanks to theoretical and practical courses, and also with the application units we have, they are trained as communicators who can respond to the needs of the sector and make their names heard in competitions. In addition to the four-year undergraduate education, we also have a master's program through the Department of Public Relations and Publicity within the Social Sciences Institute of Aydın Adnan Menderes University. As of 2025, our department's academic staff includes four professors, three associate professors, one assistant professor, and two research assistants.
History
The Department of Public Relations and Advertising, one of the five departments within the Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Communication, received the first undergraduate students in the 2015-2016 academic year.
Mission
The main objective of our department is to train professional, interrogative, participatory, democratic communication professionals who are committed to professional rules and ethical values. Our mission is to train communicators and media professionals who are capable of working in Turkey as well as in the international arena in compliance with the requirements of the times, qualified and productive, capable of thinking analytically and critically, aware of their professional ethics responsibilities and public interest requirements, and communication skills and to realize qualified academic researches and publications at national and international levels on communication and media studies and relevant interdisciplinary subjects.
Vision
Our vision is to become a center of perfection well-accepted in education and research at national and international planes in the professional world and scientific platforms.
Purpose
Providing a training which reflects the multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary nature of communication and media studies with theoretical and practical dimensions, Training media and communication professionals capable of working in the creation, design and management of content in Turkey as well as in the international arena, Enabling students to gain the theoretical experience necessitated by the latest developments in information, communication and media technologies and creating applied job opportunities, Enabling students to acquire information and skills for job and career in the fields which promise new employment opportunities in media and communication sectors, Encouraging productivity and creativity by means of multi-directional cooperation with relevant sectors and project-based studies and practices, Enabling students to acquire information and skills in conducting researches, compiling data, evaluating and generating information in media, communication and relevant fields, Promoting democratic and participatory, pluralistic and critical approaches and egalitarian and liberal communication models with the awareness of public interest and social responsibility.
Physical Infrastructure
In the Faculty of Communication located in the Adnan Menderes Classrooms on the central campus of Aydın Adnan Menderes University, there is an advertising and public relations workshop that can assist in the theoretical and practical lessons of the students of the public relations and advertising department, a journalism news unit where news writing techniques are taught, an ADÜTV television studio where commercial film shooting is taught, a direction room and an editing room, and 1 PC and 1 iMac computer laboratory where especially design programs are taught.
Technical Infrastructure
3 Full HD outdoor cameras, 2 Avid editing systems, DSLR cameras, sound and lighting equipment were also provided to support the practice lessons of the students.
