Objectives of the Course

To enable students to learn the basic principles of sailing, maritime culture, wind-sail interaction, fundamental navigation rules, and safety practices while improving teamwork, leadership, decision-making, and environmental awareness skills.

Course Content

This course covers the history and fundamental concepts of sailing, the structure and equipment of sailing boats, wind formation and its effects on sails, basic navigation principles, direction and route concepts, maritime terminology, safety rules, environmental sustainability, maritime ethics, and teamwork. Students gain the theoretical foundations of sailing and maritime culture. The content is aligned with national and international introductory sailing training programs covering boat equipment, wind knowledge, sailing courses, maneuvers, and safety principles.
