Objectives of the Course

Periodontal surgery indications, treatment modalities, suturing techniques and suture materials, wound healing, and furcation lesion classification and treatment is aimed to discuss in this course.

Course Content

Surgical periodontal treatment methods, indications and contraindications, flap techniques in reducing periodontal pockets and wound healing after flap operation; suture materials and techniques, primary and secondary wound healing; anatomy of the furcation region, classification and treatment of furcation defects; Repair and regeneration concepts, comparison of regenerative and resective periodontal surgery approaches.

Learning Outcomes
1.To learn indications and contrindications of surgical periodontal treatment.
2.To learn indications and contrindications of flap operation; general information about the technique.
3.Understanding of treatment methods of infrabony defects.
4.To be able to understand the basis of mucogingival surgery and to be able to decide which type of mucogingival operation is necessary.
5.To be able to understand the supportive periodontal therapy
