Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with preclinical skills related to basic cavity preparations and restorative procedures used in restorative dental treatment. It is intended that students will be able to use restorative dental treatment instruments correctly in a phantom laboratory setting, perform both conventional and modern cavity preparations, and learn the principles of clinical use of different restorative materials.**

Course Content

This course introduces the basic hand instruments and rotary instruments used in restorative dental treatment. Students learn Black cavity preparations, modern cavity preparations, and the basic preparation principles for restorative procedures through practical training in a phantom laboratory setting. The course content includes the application of liner and base materials, the use of conventional matrix systems, amalgam restoration procedures, glass ionomer restorations, and composite restoration techniques. The aim is for students to acquire fundamental preclinical skills in isolation, material manipulation, anatomical contouring, occlusion control, and finishing procedures of restorations.**

Learning Outcomes
1.Defines the basic instruments used in restorative dental treatment and applies them in appropriate areas of use.
2.Compares the principles of Black cavity preparation with modern cavity preparation approaches and performs appropriate preparation procedures.
3.Selects and applies liner, base, and other restorative materials in accordance with their clinical indications.
4.Performs amalgam, glass ionomer, and composite restoration procedures in accordance with material properties and principles of safe clinical practice.
5.Provides a safe working environment during restorative procedures by applying infection control, ergonomics, and clinical working rules.
6.Prepares for clinical practice by using scientific knowledge, technical skills, and principles of professional communication in preclinical restorative procedures.
