Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with the psychomotor skills required to perform the fundamental procedures of endodontic treatment in a preclinical setting, to enable them to use endodontic instruments and materials correctly, and to prepare them for clinical endodontic practice by performing basic procedures—including access cavity preparation, working length determination, root canal shaping, irrigation, and root canal obturation—on simulated teeth.

Course Content

This is a core professional course that provides students with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills required for preclinical endodontic procedures. The course covers access cavity preparation, tooth and root canal anatomy, the use of endodontic instruments, working length determination, root canal shaping, irrigation, and root canal obturation.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Identifies endodontic instruments and explains their appropriate clinical indications.
2.Correctly applies isolation techniques, particularly rubber dam isolation, and evaluates their clinical importance.
3.Prepares access cavities in different tooth groups (maxillary and mandibular incisors, premolars, and molars) in accordance with anatomical principles.
4.Shapes the root canal system using appropriate techniques and effectively applies irrigation protocols.
5.Performs root canal obturation in different tooth groups using appropriate materials and techniques.
6.Identifies errors and complications encountered during endodontic treatment and applies appropriate prevention and management strategies.
