Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to develop students’ advanced preclinical application skills in restorative dentistry and to enable them to gain competence in caries management and aesthetic restorative procedures in accordance with the principles of minimally invasive dentistry. It is aimed that students will be able to plan appropriate restorative treatment approaches in different clinical scenarios, apply isolation techniques, and correctly use contemporary restorative materials.

Course Content

Within the scope of this course, the principles of ergonomics in dentistry and current practices related to caries removal and restoration are carried out in a preclinical environment. Students learn, through hands-on training, the application of rubber dam isolation and the use of contemporary matrix systems. In addition, studies are conducted on crown fracture treatments, pulp capping procedures, indirect composite restorations, composite laminate restorations, and diastema closure treatments. The course content also includes tissue-preserving preparation principles, aesthetic restorative procedures, and the clinical use of restorative materials in accordance with minimally invasive restorative approaches. It is aimed that students will acquire manual skills, material manipulation skills, aesthetic evaluation abilities, and clinical application competencies in restorative procedures.

Learning Outcomes
1.Establishes appropriate working positions and clinical setup in preclinical restorative applications by applying the principles of ergonomics.
2.Applies caries removal and restoration procedures in accordance with biological, mechanical, and minimally invasive principles.
3.Provides effective isolation for restorative procedures by using rubber dam and contemporary matrix systems in appropriate indications.
4.Selects appropriate materials and techniques in crown fracture treatment, pulp capping procedures, and indirect composite restorative procedures.
5.Performs composite laminate restorations and diastema treatments in accordance with aesthetic, functional, and conservative approaches.
6.Applies minimally invasive restorative procedures in accordance with patient safety, ethical principles, and current scientific approaches.
