To provide dental students with knowledge and awareness regarding infection control, sterilization and disinfection procedures, environmental hygiene practices, and healthcare waste management in clinical settings; and to teach current standards for ensuring patient, employee, and environmental safety.
This course covers the fundamental principles of infection control in dental clinics, hand hygiene practices, use of personal protective equipment, sterilization and disinfection methods, cleaning of clinical surfaces, management of dental unit waterlines, classification, collection, transportation and disposal of healthcare waste, environmentally sustainable practices, occupational health and safety, and relevant national and international regulations. Quality management and sustainability approaches in clinical hygiene processes are also discussed.
