Diagnostic tools in orthodontics and usage of cephalometrics in orthodontic treatment planning, determination of growth and development, orthodontic cast analysis, bending active and passive clamps used in removable orthodontic appliances, process of orthodontic appliances
| 1. | Explain the prenatal and postnatal growth and development mechanisms of the craniofacial complex (cranial base, maxilla, mandible, and dentoalveolar structures), the principal theories of growth control, and the relationship between developmental stages and orthodontic treatment timing. |
| 2. | Determine the patient's skeletal maturation stage using methods such as hand-wrist radiographs and cervical vertebral maturation, and interpret the clinical significance of this finding for treatment timing. |
| 3. | Recognize skeletal and dentoalveolar orthodontic anomalies, classify them using accepted classification systems (e.g., Angle classification, skeletal classifications), and perform a systematic orthodontic clinical examination (extraoral, intraoral, and functional assessment). |
| 4. | Perform model analyses on orthodontic study casts—including space analysis (crowding/spacing), arch dimension measurements, and tooth-size discrepancy (e.g., Bolton analysis)—and evaluate the results in the context of diagnosis and treatment planning. |
| 5. | Produce cephalometric tracings and analyses by identifying anatomical landmarks and planes on lateral cephalometric radiographs, and interpret the patient's skeletal, dental, and soft-tissue relationships for diagnostic purposes. |
