Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable dental students to accurately monitor a patient's vital signs during clinical practice, safely perform basic medical procedures, and conduct clinical assessments while prioritizing patient safety. It also aims to equip students with fundamental medical skills such as airway management, oxygen therapy, intravenous access, and injection procedures.

Course Content

This course covers basic monitoring methods used to assess a patient's systemic status (ECG, blood pressure, respiration, temperature, pulse oximetry). In addition, fundamental medical procedures such as airway management, balloon-mask ventilation, oxygen and inhaler therapies, intravenous access, and intramuscular and intravenous injections are addressed. Clinical skills such as general condition and consciousness assessment, and appropriate positioning in emergency situations are also taught. The course combines theoretical instruction with a practice-based approach focused on developing skills.

Learning Outcomes
1.It explains and interprets vital signs and monitoring parameters (ECG, blood pressure, respiration, temperature, oxygen saturation).
2.It systematically assesses the patient's general condition and level of consciousness.
3.It ensures airway patency and performs essential airline management practices.
4.He/She correctly applies oxygen therapy, balloon-mask ventilation, and inhaler applications.
5.He/She performs basic interventional skills such as establishing vascular access and administering intramuscular and intravenous injections.
