The aim of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge of pharmacology, including pharmaceutical dosage forms, mechanisms of drug action, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic principles, and the safe, effective, and rational use of medications. The course covers drugs affecting the autonomic and central nervous systems, analgesics, antihypertensive agents, antimicrobial drugs, chemotherapeutic agents, pharmacovigilance, and drug interactions to develop students' competencies in evaluating pharmacotherapy and promoting safe medication practices in clinical settings.
The course covers an introduction to pharmacology, pharmaceutical dosage forms, routes of drug administration, mechanisms of drug action, absorption, distribution, biotransformation, elimination, pharmacovigilance, drug interactions, and factors influencing drug responses. It also examines receptors and drug–receptor interactions, dose–concentration–response relationships, toxic, allergic, teratogenic, mutagenic, and carcinogenic effects of drugs; agents affecting serotonin, histamine, prostaglandin, leukotriene, and angiotensin systems; drugs acting on the autonomic nervous system; antihypertensive agents, sedative-hypnotics, general and local anesthetics, antidepressants, opioid and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory analgesics, as well as principles of chemotherapy, antibacterial drugs, antifungal agents, antiseptics, and disinfectants.
| 1. | describe and comment on the absorption, bioavailability, distribution and elimination of the drugs, and the drug-receptor interaction Can recognise neuromuscular transmission disorders and refers. |
| 2. | describe and comment drug-receptor interaction. |
| 3. | comment on the physiology of autonomic nervous system |
| 4. | classify the drugs used in the therapy of the diseases related with the central nervous system |
| 5. | To know factors of changing the action of drugs and interactions between drugs |
