Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to develop students’ competencies in patient examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical practice within the field of restorative dentistry. Under faculty supervision, students are expected to perform patient assessments, determine appropriate restorative treatment strategies, and carry out fundamental clinical procedures in accordance with ethical principles and infection control protocols.

Course Content

Within the scope of this course, students take the medical and dental history of patients attending the restorative dentistry clinic, perform clinical and radiographic examinations, establish diagnoses, and develop appropriate treatment plans. All assessments are reviewed by the supervising faculty members and research assistants, and feedback is provided to the students. Under the faculty supervision, students carry out restorative treatment procedures and gain clinical experience in patient communication, clinical decision-making, material selection, isolation techniques, restorative procedures, and patient follow-up. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on developing competencies in infection control, professional ethics, ergonomics, and patient safety principles.

Learning Outcomes
1.Obtains a systematic medical and dental history from patients presenting to the clinic and establishes an appropriate diagnosis based on clinical and radiographic evaluations.
2.Evaluates the patient’s systemic health status and oral healthcare needs to develop an evidence-based restorative treatment plan.
3.Performs restorative dental treatment procedures in accordance with patient safety, infection control, and ethical principles.
4.Actively participates in teamwork by establishing effective communication with patients, clinical supervisor, coworkers and other team members during clinical practice.
5.Maintains accurate patient records, effectively utilizes digital systems, and evaluates treatment data throughout clinical procedures.
6.Integrates preventive approaches aimed at promoting community oral health into clinical practice and provides appropriate patient education and counseling.
