Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to train dentists who can recognize emergencies that may be encountered during dental practice, quickly and accurately assess patients, apply the basic principles of basic and advanced life support, and make clinical decisions that prioritize patient safety. Furthermore, it aims to enable students to develop a systematic approach to emergencies, manage complications, and play an effective role within a team.

Course Content

This course covers the recognition and management of common emergencies in dental practice, starting with the concept of emergency and triage applications. It addresses the evaluation of clinical conditions such as syncope, airway obstruction, hypoglycemia, anaphylaxis, intoxication, loss of consciousness, and respiratory distress. It also covers an introduction to basic and advanced adult and pediatric life support. The course is supported by scenario-based exercises to develop students' clinical decision-making and intervention skills.

2.It recognizes and evaluates dental emergencies early on.
3.It plans an appropriate approach to emergency clinical situations such as syncope, hypoglycemia, anaphylaxis, intoxication, and respiratory distress.
4.They apply airway management techniques and methods for treating foreign body aspiration.
5.Performs basic life support procedures in adult and pediatric patients. Makes systematic and effective clinical decisions while prioritizing patient safety in emergency situations and takes an active role within the team.
