The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge of the etiology, pathophysiology, clinical features, diagnostic methods, and treatment approaches of systemic diseases affecting dental practice and oral mucosal diseases. The course also aims to enable students to plan safe dental treatment for medically compromised patients and to recognize oral mucosal lesions and develop appropriate clinical management strategies.
This course covers bleeding and coagulation disorders, blood products and transfusion, anemia, leukemia, lymphoma, cardiovascular diseases including heart failure, hypertension and coronary artery disease, endocrine disorders, rheumatic diseases, chronic kidney disease, respiratory diseases (COPD, asthma, tuberculosis), head, neck and joint disorders, basic exercise principles, community health indicators, epidemiology, allergic diseases, pediatric immunology and genetic disorders, as well as the structure of the oral mucosa, oral mucosal diseases, infectious diseases of the oral mucosa, cheilitis, gingivitis, benign diseases of the tongue, oral ulcers, leukoplakia, and oral mucosal tumors. Special emphasis is placed on the implications of systemic diseases for dental practice and appropriate patient management.
