This course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the objectives, indications, treatment modalities, surgical techniques, and biomaterials used in periodontal surgery, together with the stages of wound healing. Furthermore, the course emphasizes the importance of supportive periodontal therapy during the maintenance phase following treatment. It also addresses periodontal conditions requiring emergency intervention, the relationship between systemic diseases and periodontal diseases, the indications for pharmacological therapy in periodontology, and the significance of multidisciplinary approaches in periodontal diagnosis and treatment.
This course covers the fundamental objectives of periodontal surgical procedures, their clinical indications, and the available treatment modalities. Surgical techniques and the types and properties of biomaterials used during periodontal surgical procedures are examined, while the biological stages of periodontal wound healing are explained in detail. In addition, the course emphasizes the importance of the maintenance phase in preserving periodontal health following treatment and evaluates the impact of regular follow-up and supportive periodontal therapy on long-term treatment outcomes. Furthermore, clinical conditions requiring emergency periodontal intervention and the bidirectional relationship between periodontal diseases and systemic diseases are discussed. The interrelationship of periodontal therapy with prosthetic and orthodontic treatment is also addressed, highlighting the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to comprehensive patient care.
