Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge of the structure and function of DNA and RNA, gene and chromosome organization, molecular genetic mechanisms, inheritance patterns, epigenetics, mutations, stem cell biology, transgenic technologies, and clinical genetics. The course aims to enable students to explain genetic mechanisms, evaluate the basic principles of hereditary diseases, and relate genetic knowledge to clinical practice.

Course Content

This course covers the structure and function of DNA and RNA, chromosome and gene organization, DNA replication, transcription, translation, mutation, DNA repair mechanisms, epigenetic regulation, and stem cell biology. It also includes single-gene, chromosomal, mitochondrial, and multifactorial inheritance patterns, population genetics, transgenic organisms, molecular and clinical genetics, dysmorphology, teratogens and mutagens, clinical genetic evaluation, and genetic counseling through theoretical instruction.
