The aim of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge of cell and membrane physiology, the mechanisms underlying membrane potentials, and the basic principles of blood physiology. The course covers hematopoiesis, iron metabolism, hemoglobin, erythrocyte and leukocyte physiology, the immune system, blood groups, and hemostasis through theoretical and practical sessions, enabling students to understand normal physiological processes and relate them to dental practice.
The course covers cell physiology, the structure and functions of the cell membrane, membrane transport mechanisms, generation and propagation of membrane potentials, the composition and general characteristics of blood, hematopoiesis, iron metabolism, hemoglobin synthesis and function, erythrocyte physiology, leukocyte physiology and their roles in the immune system, blood groups, and the physiological mechanisms of hemostasis. Theoretical knowledge is reinforced through practical sessions, allowing students to evaluate physiological mechanisms using experimental approaches.
| 1. | Defines physiology and learns the general composition of the body. |
| 2. | Defines homeostasis and understands control systems. |
| 3. | Learns the structure of the cell and the functions of organelles. |
| 4. | Understands body fluids and their distribution. |
| 5. | Learns the transport of substances across the cell membrane. |
| 6. | Knows the components, physical and functional characteristics of blood. |
| 7. | Understands immune mechanisms and the role of blood cells in their development. |
